VCCD Logo Contest

Vermilion County Conservation District
Logo Redesign Contest

Since 1966, the Vermilion County Conservation District has assured people permanent access to their outdoor heritage at Forest Glen Preserve, Kennekuk County Park, Lake Vermilion, Heron County Park, and the Kickapoo Rail Trail. Visitors can enjoy a variety of recreational opportunities, including boating, fishing, camping, hunting, hiking, birdwatching, and biking. Through educational programs, events, and presentations, the VCCD aims to connect people of all ages with nature. The VCCD is committed to preserving and protecting over 6000 acres of park property to support a high biodiversity of plants and animals in our beech-maple forests, oak-maple forests, tallgrass prairies, lakes, wetlands, and rivers.

To better illustrate these opportunities provided and our mission, the VCCD is announcing a logo redesign competition with a cash prize of $500.00. This new logo is intended to help us identify and connect with the park’s visitors and community.

Logo guidelines are as follows:

  • Artists, graphic designers, or companies may submit up to three unique logo designs that reflect the opportunities and mission provided by the VCCD. There is no fee to enter the contest.
  • Submissions must be original in design and not infringe on any existing copyrights. Entries must be the designer’s original work and not copied from others or previous designs and do not violate the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity. No Artificial Intelligence or premade art will be accepted.
  • Designs will be assessed for their overall aesthetic quality, clarity, and ability to be easily recognized and remembered.
  • Logo needs to be easy to use, handle, resize, and manipulate for all reproduction purposes in various sizes (large and small) and formats (full color and grayscale).
  • The logo needs to incorporate “Vermilion County Conservation District” within, next to, or below the graphic.
  • The winning submission becomes the sole property of the Vermilion County Conservation District and may be used for any District purposes, including, but not limited to, display on websites, social media sites, newsletters, staff clothing apparel, and other materials.
  • The VCCD shall have the right to adapt, edit, modify, or otherwise use the winning submission in part or in its entirety in whatever manner it deems appropriate.

Submission details:

  • The contest opens on September 15, 2025 and closes on September 29, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST). Late submissions will not be considered.
  • Entries must be submitted as JPEG files. For quality reproduction purposes, the winning entry must later be submitted in scalable vector graphic format (EPS). Color must be CMYK, though the logo may also be produced in black and white.
  • All entries must be submitted electronically to ldanzl@vccd.org.
  • Submissions must include the full name of the person who designed the logo, email address, postal address, and telephone number.
  • The winning entry will be selected by a panel comprised of VCCD staff. Their decision will be final and no further correspondence shall be entered into. The VCCD reserves the right to not choose a winning submission if submissions do not meet VCCD criteria.
  • A winner will be selected and notified via email by October 17, 2025.
  • The winning artist will be acknowledged on the VCCD’s website and newsletter and awarded $500.00. This prize remains the same regardless of the size of the team submitting the winning entry.
  • If the winner is determined to have violated any rules, he/she will be required to forfeit or return the prize, even if the determination is made after the prize has been awarded.
